Finally, back to Hello Sunshine! It has been a long time since I have blogged and some beautiful new things have "sprung" up around me in the interim....some new paintings, a gardenia bush so laden down with exquisite blossoms that the branches were lying on the ground and......the MOST IMPORTANT "new thing" of all.......a new granddaughter.
Say hello to Mahon Marcelle! She was jubilantly welcomed into the world on April 14, 2010.
...A note on the painting featured above...
The artwork above (a faux collage) features a contemporary spin on "fougeres" (French for fern....just can't get over my French thing) and is painted entirely in acrylic paint. Designed to resemble the layers of a collage, it has been sponged, ragged and stamped with many layers of paint to achieve a "collaged" effect. It was great fun to do and I will be sharing more new pieces soon.
You're invited to join me for some painting fun in the mountains in the fall. I will be teaching a Mixed-media Painting Workshop in Brasstown, N.C., at the John Campbell Folk School from August 29 to September 4th.(See post below about last years workshop.) Space is still available. Details about my workshop, the school and registration can be found at www.folkschool.org.
Hugs, Marcy
