Ah Spring, thank you for the joy you bring!
Spring on the Gulfcoast of Florida is exquisite. The wonderfully fresh smell of the breeze from the Gulf wafts through our open windows and doors (our sliders go right into the walls so the inside and outdoors merge). I head for the nurseries for some new plants, usually ferns and mosses. This years purchases have no name markers in the pots, so I will have to do a little research. Have already realized that they like to spend much of the time in the damp environment under a cloche. So far, they are surviving.
I didn't realize until lately that my foyer table, dining room table and greenhouse window in the kitchen dining nook are really little altars. I get so much pleasure from designing and redesigning these spaces according to season and whim. A February 26th post from my friend at SnipandSnail.blogspot.com brought to my attention that these small personal collections could be tabbed "altars." A quote in this post offers a thought, "An altar in our life, alters our life." These spaces feed my soul and honor what is going on in Mother Nature's world, especially in the Spring.
This amaryllis
bulb spent last summer and fall in a pot in the backyard. I let it dry
out in the pot, removed it from the dirt and let it winter-over in the
garage. Must plant it today and wait to be surprised by the color of
the blossom! May your spring blossom, too . Marcy
I love this springy altar series! I see ferns in your studio future!
